Open Hack 2009
So last week I made a big mistake. @TheHodge had posted the problem that the Yahoo's hack day was the same day as Goodhack. I decided to delete the post because it was not a problem that could be worked on during the day. Unfortunately and (I can completely understand the argument) this was perceived as censorship. This was never my intention; I just wanted to ensure that the list of problems on the site was in keeping with the ethos of the event.
I completely agree, it was a mistake on my part to organise GoodHack on the same day as Yahoo's. Unfortunately by the time that we had found out that Yahoo's hackday was the same day, we had already sent out our publicity for 9th May. We decided that London was a pretty big place and there was more than enough room for 2 hack day's (It's testament to how awesome the UK tech scene is that there are 2 hack days to choose from!). Organising an event is a pretty tricky (this is the first time i've organise an event, been learning a lot!) and I think this will be the problem that I will be working on during Goodhack (http://www.goodhack.org/problems/view/24).
Since there are going to be so many dev's hanging around in London on Saturday, I suggest everyone from Goodhack & Open Hack 2009 meets up for a few drinks? We can see what cool hacks everyone's been doing!
Again, I am sorry for any offence I caused: censorship is something I take very seriously and will ensure that nothing like this happens in the future. This will most definitely not be the last Goodhack so would love to get more feedback from the community (@TheHodge would be great to hear any other suggestions you have).
