To be honest, this problem doesn't need much explanation. It's something that pretty much everyone with an email address encounters and it's seriously annoying. There are lots of very clever algorithmic based solutions out there but I still reckon there must be a simpler solution to SPAM. Maybe making a more fundamental change to how email is sent/received is needed, e.g. turning email into a pull system rather than a pull system (http://tinyurl.com/c2xky7)
